The woman he is accused of stalking went on several dates with 33-year-old Matthew Bustin but "felt uncomfortable after odd behavior arose," the police stated in the release. She ended the relationship and blocked him on social media but he continued to text her and show up unexpectedly," investigators said.
In April, while the victim was on vacation, police said Bustin went into her home, turned off all of the circuit breakers, and disconnected her internet.
Detectives also said they found a GPS tracker attached to the bottom of her car, which connected to an account associated with Bustin, according to BPD.
Video from the parking lot at the victim's Montgomery County workplace showed Bustin attaching the tracker to her vehicle, authorities said.
Cell phone data showed Bustin had been to the victim's home and workplace "on at least nine occasions without her knowledge after she ended the relationship," investigators said.
Bustin surrendered to police on an arrest warrant on Saturday, June 1, and was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, stalking, and harassment, police said.
He is being held in lieu of 10 percent of a $2 million bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 12, court records show.
